I am a clinical psychologist licensed in Washington, DC and Maryland. I earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The George Washington University. I have worked as a clinician in university counseling centers, elementary and middle schools, an eating disorders clinic, a low-fee mental health clinic, a school-based community health center, and in private practice. I have provided short-term and long-term counseling services along with crisis intervention, outreach, psychological testing and consultation. I also have taught undergraduate and graduate classes at The George Washington University and Trinity Washington University, both located in the District of Columbia. Currently, I work in private practice and I am on faculty at The George Washington University as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology where I supervise psychology students in training.
Before beginning my career as a psychologist, I earned a Master of Arts degree in International Communication and I worked in the field of international education. I provided cross-cultural communication training and consultations to students, faculty and staff, and professionals from all over the world. I speak Spanish and have continued to work with immigrants, international students, and first generation U.S. citizens in my practice as a psychologist.
I believe in the importance of continuing my education so as to provide people with the best services possible. I have completed the Couples Training Program with the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. I also consult regularly with senior clinicians and I participate in a monthly peer supervision group. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, and The Mid-Atlantic Group Psychotherapy Society.
