Physical, emotional, spiritual, situational and environmental factors are all components that affect mental health. For example, relationship conflicts, issues from childhood, loss, job instability, and life transitions can lead to increased feelings of sadness and worry or difficulty maintaining meaningful relationships. Physical stressors such as disease, chronic pain, a chemical imbalance, or unhealthy eating patterns can also inhibit optimal functioning.
I work with male and female adolescents and adults in individual, couple, group, and family therapy to address the unique factors contributing to their struggles. I work in a caring, calming, and non-judgmental manner. We will work together so that you can be more mindful of your thoughts, feelings, and hopes. This will help you to develop better coping skills, to increase compassion for yourself and others, and to enable you to make new choices that will hopefully lead to more satisfying work, play, and relationships.
I collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, and dieticians as needed for your care. I believe that a team approach can often be helpful, particularly when working with issues that affect your physical as well as your emotional being.
I have a general practice, although particular areas of focus include:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Eating Disorders
- Relationship Struggles
- Communication Difficulties
- Pre-Marital Counseling
- Stress Management
- Cross-cultural/Immigration Concerns
- Cross-cultural Relationships
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions about my services.
